It is all about the biscuits!

This is Tobey! Tobey has such a personality I loved photographing him and his humans in Simpsonville a few weeks ago. We spent time in their yard playing, lying in the grass, and eating treats...you gotta love a dog's life! 

We love animals at our house, especially dogs. We have two of our own Molly HRH (her royal highness) the wonder beagle and Sophie Slice of Londenderry Lake, the lab. Other dogs in our neighborhood love to come to our house too; some of their owners even have joint custody or visitation rights with us! It is all due to my husband, who always has a biscuit in his pocket. It doesn't matter if he has on shorts or a tux, he will have a dog biscuit in his pocket! It is his little way of surprising them. He loves dogs and dogs love him; I once had a friend say if they could ever be reincarnated it would be as Kamran Popkin's dog! 

What they don't know is that being his wife is even better! He really treats me like Princess ...or more like Duchess... now that we have our own little princess in the house. And yes, his nickname for me is Duchess. He brought K. and I breakfast in bed this morning and already has dinner ready for tonight. Coffee in bed every morning is not out of character either. 

That's just the way he rolls! He loves to help, wether he is helping me wake up or helping his clients with their needs. He runs SWAG CLUB and is amazing at finding exactly what his clients are looking for and then some. SWAG is short for Stuff We All Get... you know.. logoed stuff, premium gifts, the coolest stuff on the planet! He likes to give his clients what they ask for but he will also surprise them with something they didn't expect..... kind-of like carrying biscuits in his pocket... that's just how he rolls!

Starting Kindergarten..... for the last time

So we are on the cusp of Fall and Summer is but a fading memory. Did you go to the Beach? Did you Laugh? Were you Lazy? Did you have Fun? Did you fall in Love? Did you Play? Did you play Hard? Did you go on an Adventure? Did you Hike or Bike or Float or Fly? Did you capture the Memory? We always think we are going to remember just how beautiful our children looked with the sun setting behind them as they run on the beach saying "please Mom can't we just stay a little longer!" When in our mind we are shouting "please, can't you stay little.....just a little longer!" 

This phrase ran over and over and over in my mind a few weeks ago when I took my youngest to Kindergarten. This was the third time for me to "start" Kindergarten and it was just as hard this time as the first and second! I love kindergarten teachers, they are so sweet natured and willing to hug anyone including me for getting all teary eyed. 

Even now 4 weeks into the school year I got a little choked up today as I watch her big brother gently guide her into school from the car pool line. It made me feel peaceful knowing that her big brother steps into the guiding role when we are not around. With his older brother in Jr. High, JCP becomes the wise one, the leader, the oldest sibling at his school. A role that fits him like a glove!

Kamran (the hubby and Toy Maker) and I finally graduated from Pre School after 12 years and it is hard to believe that all my children are in "Big School" now. That is a huge milestone for us as a couple. No more diapers, car seats, johnny jump ups, baby food, pull ups, high chairs, bibs..... no more baby cooing, babbling, drooling, first smiles, pudgy legs, first steps, first tooth......I know there are many, many more "first" to come, first spend the night party, first real friend, first date, first kiss, first broken heart. I know there will be more adventures, more laughing, more loving, and a lot more milestones to hurdle! I hope I'll be able to find a sweet kindergarten teacher to wipe away my tears...

I'm Sorry!!!

O.K. I must admit that I have not been a very good blogger lately and for that I am truly sorry. I hope you all will forgive me! I promise to do better! It has been an extremely busy spring and start of Summer. This has been such a blessing and I thank each of you for being the best clients out there! I have been madly proofing and shooting, proofing, and shooting! I LOVE it. However I am perfectionist and as my husband points out this can be a problem. (more his problem though :-) My goal is to make each of your photos "wall-worthy", so I may spend a lot of time "working" a photograph so that it is perfect for you. I hope you will believe they were worth the wait! I plan to post several portrait sessions and a wedding over the next week so please stay tuned, or better yet subscribe to this blog. Just click the subscribe button at the top of the page. 

I am so excited to let you all know that we will be going to Hatteras Island the week of the 4th and I still have just a few sessions to fill. If you live near there or will be vacationing there between July 4th - 11th, I would be honored to photograph your family at the beach. And now for a little eye candy. This are a few of my favorite photographs from my last session with baby S. She is growing up so quickly. I have photographed her 4 times in the past 12 months or so. Angela wanted me to document her first year. This session had many firsts, it was a first with her sweet Daddy and she had just learned to walk and it was Angela's first time at Falls Park in Greenville. Wow, there are sooooo many first during that first year. Capturing a fleeting moment

This photo is absolutely one of my favorite photos ever! Why you may ask? Is it because baby S. is so beautiful? Is it because it is black and white? It is because we created something beautiful out of a very cold and very grey day? Yes, yes, and yes, but I really love this photo because it shows how completely Angela loves, loves, loves this baby! It captures the emotions of being a MOM. That complete love that we feel everytime we hug our children. It captures a moment in time that can never be recreated. This portrait was taken when Baby S. was 9 months old and she has changed so much since then... which has barely been a couple of months! She was about to walk when I photographed her in January, I bet she has already taken her first real steps by now!

As busy Moms we rarely think about portraits with our children. We are so concerned about capturing them at a certain age that we forget to capture our relationships with them. We think we will always remember what is feels like to hold those chubby fingers in our hand or to receive a slobery kiss. With Mother's Day  around the corner now is the time to plan a session to capture those fleeting moments. Call me to schedule your Such is Life session or to purchase a gift certificate for your favorite Mom!

Engagement in the Park video

 Happy New Year!!! Well it has been a while since my last post but I promise this one is worth the wait! I had such a great time photographing this couple. I am shooting their wedding this summer and we did thier engagement session last weekend. It was overcast and on the verge of raining but we had a blast in Liberty Park. She is a natural with horses!

I photographed this beautiful little girl who is not so little any more. Her mother and I used to be in a play group with our children before they all started elementary school. I remember when Little Miss E was tiny and now she is riding horses! I have to admit, I am usually intimitated by such large animals but the horses at Shannon's farm are so gentle and loving and I never thought twice about it! This was a first for me, as I have never photographed horses before but I loved it and the venue was beautiful. It had rained all day and I was worried we would have to cancel, but it stoped about 1 1/2 hours before we were scheduled to meet.  It turned out to be beautiful with the light, the fall colors, and especially Little Miss E. Donna, hope you enjoy your sneak peak, your gallery should be up in a few days!

They LOVE their dogs!

Boy have I been running!

It has been a whirlwind since the beginnig of October so I have not blogged in a while and I really need to catch you all up. Well here is one little girl that is so naturally beautiful you can't help but capture georgous photos of her! And her mom is incredibly engaging with her daughter she really helped get baby S's sweet little personality sparkle. Angela thanks for letting me capture her at this time in her life she is just precious! Here are a few of my favorites...
